VMI Donates $10,000 and Volunteer Hours to the Miracle League of Arizona

Posted in: News & Press

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Oct 17, 2013 Vantage Mobility International (VMI), a leader in the manufacture and distribution of wheelchair accessible vehicles, recently donated their time and $10,000 to The Miracle League of Arizona, a non-profit organization in North Scottsdale, dedicated to providing a safe, successful and enjoyable baseball experience for children, teens and adults with disabilities or special health care needs. VMI’s donation will help The Miracle League of Arizona purchase MLB jerseys and baseball caps for the athletes, as well as “buddy” t- shirts for the countless volunteers who help more than 200 players, ranging from age 4 and up.

“VMI is proud to team up with our friends at The Miracle League of Arizona,” said Monique McGivney, director of corporate communication at VMI.  “Their state-of-the-art baseball stadium gives children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy America’s favorite pastime and all of the excitement that comes with the game.  Not only is VMI proud to provide financial assistance to help these deserving kids, we’re also excited to volunteer our time to help these special athletes make the most out of every inning.”

The Miracle League of Arizona offers adaptive baseball, at an accessible stadium, removing the barriers that would normally keep individuals off the field. Athletes are placed in a League based on their age and skill level. They are matched with a “buddy”, a one-on-one friend and helper. Games are success oriented, so each athlete is encouraged to do as much as they can on their own, and the buddies are there to assist with the rest. The facility also features a custom designed rubberized turf to allow easy maneuverability for wheelchairs and other devices, as well as accessible bathrooms, private care giver rooms, an adaptive playground, a picnic area, and bleachers for the families to sit back and cheer.

“We’re thrilled by the continued support that VMI has provided the Miracle League of Arizona,” said Dan Haren Sr. Executive Director of MLAZ. “VMI helped us build the Miracle League stadium, and now they’re helping us deliver cost free programming to the children and families who enjoy our facility. VMI has set a standard of how to make a positive impact in their community. We’re truly fortunate to have such compassionate business leaders as Doug Eaton and his team at VMI.”
