This past weekend VMI joined Toyota and FCA at the Los Angeles Abilities Expo to display the 2017 lineup of vans. What a fantastic event! Attendees were able to test both the manual and power in-floor ramps. They also had the opportunity to wheel into the van to experience the spaciousness and maneuverability firsthand as well as roll up to the front row to check things out from a driver and passenger perspective.

The Abilities Expo is an event that brings together the disability community with the goal of “bringing necessary products and services together under one roof for the community of people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, seniors and healthcare professionals. It’s about introducing opportunities that can enrich your life…especially ones that you never knew were out there.” The event – which spans three full days – allows attendees to interact with products, learn about services, participate in informative workshops, and enjoy many family-friendly activities.

This past weekend’s Expo was full of education, entertainment, and the latest in adaptive products and services. On display was everything from information on driver rehabilitation specialists and local organizations to large displays of wheelchairs and wheelchair accessible vans. Here are just a few organizations that exhibited at the event:

Anti-Grav Unweighting System – provides exercise equipment that reduces overall body weight during physical activity allowing for a streamlined evaluation and targeted rehabilitation. During the show, attendees could strap into the system and try the equipment out.

Cur8able – is the fashion expert for people with disabilities. Their team of fashion consultants and disability advocates brought the latest fashion trends, style tips, and an accessible styling system.

Permobil and Quantum Rehab – manufacturers of complex rehabilitation mobility technologies were both on hand to display some of their latest products. They even had service stations available for quick wheelchair service and repairs.

We were lucky enough to meet some amazing professional athletes at the expo including:
